Salone del Mobile 2023, day 5.

Euroluce takes place every two years as part of Salone del Mobile, so for the last day all we planned was to learn about the novelties of the world of light. Euroluce is one of the most anticipated lighting exhibitions for manufacturers, designers, architects, dealers, and sellers, where we can get to know the latest trends and innovations first hand. The world is committed to innovative solutions and every year more advanced technologies are presented by major manufacturers. High technology has become fully integrated with formal elegance and design culture, creating a completely new approach between lighting and the furniture industry, highlighting how lighting can improve the appearance of space as a design element. This year’s exhibition also rethought the layout of the space and by better connecting the four pavilions, made it easier for visitors to navigate through them. The new concept was called the City of Lights, which arranged exhibitors in a loop form based on the street plans of Italian cities. Since nearly 500 manufacturers presented their new products, we visited our partners in a very focused and purposeful manner, and at the end we had some time left to discover some unknown brands.

We still had a few scheduled meetings in the morning, so we started our morning with a lovely representative who showed us around the world of fine elegance of Italian luxury and craftsmanship. Our first stop was at the Giorgio Collection, where great emphasis is placed on fine materials and detailed craftsmanship. The brand’s products combine Italian craftsmanship with an art deco atmosphere and avant-garde shapes to add freshness and lightness to their furniture, such as the Moonlight range, whose steel wire structures have become iconic pieces of the brand.

Our next stop was the Cantori, where the beauty and diversity of shape won our hearts at first glance. According to the company’s motto, manual labour is a fundamental social value in our world, so it is no wonder that this value can be observed in each of its products. Among their novelties, we would like to highlight the Cloud sofa designed by Maurizio Manzoni, the name of which also refers to the design of the furniture. The modular product is inspired by the roundness of the clouds and the open space layout, with a metal T structure that serves as support for the rounded seats and backrests.

The Paolo Castelli brand, which has a 140-year history of carpentry, has undergone flexible and dynamic changes over the years and has been a regular participant of the exhibition since 2012. Every year it impresses visitors, including us, with exciting shapes. The Sari chair with a bold silhouette in every detail of aesthetic appearance and ergonomics was dreamt up by Vittorio Paradiso, it`s inner metal structure wraps around like the sari enveloping the female body, highlighting its curvy lines. As we usually do, we took the opportunity to plop down into it for a few minutes, and we have to admit that it impressed us with more than its sight.

We continued our busy morning with Francesco in the spirit of timeless elegance, where we looked at the novelties of the Tonin Casa and the Black Tie brands. The two manufacturers are characterized by high quality, unique collections and contemporary design innovations, and their products are 100% manufactured in Italy. In the collection of Tonin Casa, we looked at the end products of the wide range of unique tempered glass, among which the novelty of the year was the return of a long-forgotten technique: hammered glass. The Jazz and Arturo coffee table families can become the jewel of any interior. From the cosmopolitan approach of Black Tie, we would like to highlight the Clizia armchair, which is characterized by emphasized but light lines. An armchair with a discreet character, where there is a perfect balance between the strict metal structure and the soft cushions that define the seat.

Speaking of glass processing, Fiam Italia celebrated its 50th anniversary in honor of which, after 50 years an icon from the past, the curved glass Onda chair designed by Vittorio Livi has also returned to their collection in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

We ended our morning with Alessandre, who introduced us to the world of Lema, a versatile, easily variable system that perfectly adapts to contemporary lifestyles. Among its products only imagination can set limits for custom-designed wardrobe and built-in furniture systems. From its novelties, the Eureka built-in multifunctional storage units, which are dedicated to cheerful and relaxing moments, stole our hearts at first glance. They thought of both their female and male customers, so the collection includes a built-in dressing table with a pouf or a whiskey bar with a pull-out cart, both versions can be individually combined with leather, suede and marble.

After lunch we headed to the lamps, where our first stop was CTO Lighting. The owners are an engineer and a person from the world of fashion couple, so it is not surprising that their products are also characterized by this harmony. The perfect technical background and the finest appearance are given, these are combined with luxurious materials, handmade brass elements and mouth-blown glass. Their Pendulum collection is inspired by a hypnotic watch that brings balance and sophistication to our home. We were mesmerized.

Although we visited the MMLampadar factory recently, on which later we will bring you a short report as well, but we definitely wanted to visit them because of their impressing products and the kind personality of the owners. The Layla table lamp collection, reminiscent of old oil lamps, gives an intimate atmosphere, and the elements of colourful Murano glass brightens our home with the right amount of cheerfulness and twist. Among their novelties one of the most interesting products for us was the Tiltlit table lamp, two seemingly unstable glass globes give its playfulness, they are connected by a metal structure, and its peculiarity is that the light on both sides can be controlled separately.

We closed this year’s exhibition at Zava Luce, with whom we are working on an exciting joint project, so we had a lot to discuss, but of course we also had time left for this year’s novelties too. The strength of the company lies in the high degree of metalworking, craftsmanship and technological changes and innovations. The light structure of the Cyrcle family, reminiscent of our childhood, reminded us of a leaf flying in the wind or the parachutes of a dandelion.

Thank you Salone del Mobile, we have enriched ourselves with a lot of new experiences this year as well, see you next year.
