If tranquility were a colour, it would certainly shine in the shades of cedar, ginger, myrrh and sandalwood, we started to design our latest project with this idea, too, where it was refreshing to create harmony between the home and the surrounding environment, away from the bustle of the city centre.
During the design process, we used the properties of nature as inspiration, which is spontaneous and unpredictable and is characterized by constant change, just like the design process.
The outdoor and indoor space are almost completely merged thanks to the huge glazed surfaces, which were also taken into account during the placement of the functions. Thus, the living room was placed in the centre of the ground floor, where a modular sofa set communicating in two directions allows direct contact with the outdoor area, but it can also be the main stage of an intimate family evening.
Neutral tones radiate tranquility and intimacy, their unity is only sometimes broken by a contrasting dash of colour. A special feature of the house is that the roof ridge crosses the building diagonally in an unusual way; we wanted to emphasize this with the wood covering that leans softly over it, into which the supporting pillars run like trunks.
The creation of unity with other spaces played a particularly important role in the design of the bedroom. We were very pleased that our client is also passionate about designed objects, so almost breathing home furnishings designed mainly by handicraft Italian manufactories bring the bedroom together and harmonize it. We wanted to soften the geometric parquet and the finely structured wall covering with an unconventional, irregularly shaped soft carpet, which in itself affects the space as a work of art.
Important features of the house are unique wall coverings, which give the rooms structure and depth. By the same token, the harmony between the bedroom and bathroom is also strengthened by the tropical wood covering, which, with its warmth and softness, counterbalances the coldness of the stone coverings used in the room.
