Spice up the Mediterranean residence

Mixing styles is a completely accepted and popular solution nowadays, our customers also turned to us with a similar request when remodelling their family home. Their heart was drawn to Art Deco, which represents elegance and sophistication, but the property they purchased was built based on the trend prevailing in the 90s, along the lines of thought closely connected with the suburban idyll, representing the features of the Mediterranean style. This style originates from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, with different trends, but what they have in common is that it can never be heavy or oppressive, seamlessly combining indoor and outdoor spaces.

Taking this idea into account we started the design, where we created the spaces in such way that the people who live in them could feel the warmth of the sun and the freshness of the fresh air. The main principle of our concept was to work with emphasizing the ceilings to characterize spaces.

Entering the house we arrive at a divided foyer, where taking advantage of the large beam feature we have designed a modern band-patterned beam covering, which we optically multiplied using a decorative glass-fronted cabinet covering the entire wall opposite the entrance, this way referring to the visible wooden beams of Mediterranean buildings but spicing it up with Art Deco in mind. We wanted to transform the spatial structure of the hall connecting the common areas into a large floor area but low ceiling hight, so we designed the stuccos using the geometric trapezoidal patterns of Art Deco reminiscent of the robustness of the wooden and stone beams, the central element of which is an accented chandelier made of opal glass and an alloy of artisanal metals. With the appropriate use of beige shades and the optical stretching of the doors we have further enhanced the feeling of a higher space. The respect for the style led us in the direction of the fine arts, so the works of contemporary painters were given special place, and one-one characteristic painting was placed on the accented stone mosaics covered wall of the hall, and on the powerful wallpaper of the study.

Good work requires concentration, which is supported by soothing deep shades, so we opted for another form of accentuating the ceiling and chose a mysterious chocolate brown shade. Among the wallpapers with geometric patterns, we chose a cotton check fabric effect, which brings a relaxed, rural atmosphere to the space. Split cassette wall coverings and cabinets reinforce the style that represents sophistication and elegance. As in other rooms, the appearance of shiny copper accessories is essential here as well, with which the harmony becomes complete.
